German School would like to say a big thank you to Marc Strunk for talking to our classes this weekend! Marc is here with his wife Astrid and daughter Amira visiting family. Marc was able to talk to our students about his home in Bochum Germany. He talked about the large mining population and the high unemployment they are now experiencing as they shift from a mining economy to something new.
Marc also explained the school system in Germany. A student starts from Kindergarten to Grundschule and then has a choice at 10 years old to either go to Gymnasium and complete and Abitur and continue on to University or to go to Realschule and learn a vocation, such as mechanic or carpenter.
Thank you Marc for your time to come in and talk to us about Germany!
